No Power...sometimes..

I have a high mileage 03 325i. I'm experiencing a very temperamental problem with power...as in..can't get the car to go up a hill with out putting my pedal to the floor.

Initially I thought it was just a tired engine with compression issues, however this appears to be a little too infrequent for it to be that. Yesterday, I drove a 80 mile round trip commute to work..no problem. Got up this morning to bring it to get coffee.. I thought I was going to have to push it.

New MAF sensor, new smog pump check valve, new oil water separator hose, new spark plugs. Got a new car on the way in 4-6 weeks, so trying to fix this as cheap as possible so I don't have to get a rental.

Thanks!

Pump is relatively new. Filter I'd have to try and test somehow.

Run a bottle of Chevron Techron through in the next tank of gas to clean the injectors.

Measure the fuel pressure at the injector rail, it should be 50 psi +- 3 psi

The only codes I'm getting are secondary air. Smog pump itself is working fine and replaced the check valve, but still code

This happened to me and it turned out to be a crank sensor or something like that.

I went out and rented a fuel gauge ..running at 50psi at the fuel rail. Put everything back together, figured I'd play around with the MAF to see if that had any bearing on engine response. Started it up a few times..with hesitation (It's been hesitating starting up the past few days..thought it would relevant to the engine trouble I've been having) Now I just hear a *click* with no turn over whatso ever.
