Anyone here had a rattling top fixed by a dealer?

I posted this last week but I want to narrow down my options to going to the dealer. If its too expensive I'll attempt a DIY.

My question is, does anyone know how much will it cost? And if you'd had it done

I just bought a 2002 330ci and I didnt really it by the dealership because the roads were good, but in the city over potholes and bumps its pretty loud. The suspension is dead quiet though which I'm glad for.

If I could, I'd try to eliminate all rattles, at any reasonable cost.

Help me out guys!!

Have you tried lubricating the top mechanism yourself first? Either here or Bimmerfest there is a pretty extensive thread on lubrication, both of the mechanism and various rubber seals. Should not be hard to find by searching. Failing that, is there someone in your city that specializes in repairing/replacing convertible tops? I can say with pretty much certainty you will get reamed if you take it to the dealer.

Hey mate, I have just bought a 2001 330ci, 95000 kms, in reasonable nic, It rattled horribly. So with the windows down I used a spray on dry lube 'ezy glide' I think it was called. It halved the noise from my top, I ran out of the stuff so bought some CRC stuff but it does not seem as good, leaves a residue. But it is much better now.

Where did you spray the lube, on the rubber findow seal (verticle)?

I sprayed the rubber and felt type stuff, the noise seems to be where the glass meets the seal.
Only lats a few days then do it agian
