You're correct about needing to brake on the uphill, but cresting the rise unloads front AND rear. The speed has to be down enough to give the car time to get its weight back down on the tires so it can be turned sharply enough to stay on the pavement.

"Flooring it" when the rears are unloaded as much as the fronts just induces oversteer instead of understeer. He didn't have room to deal with either. And given the choice of going straight off, or going off sideways or backwards, straight off is mo' bettah.

someone should've stuck to his fwd honda civics. had he been in one of those, he'd be going half the speed and been able to.... somewhat correct his apex entry haha

agree! This is great, I mean it looked like he actually got airborne off that hill, and then off the rocks.

This kid should've paid more attention in physics class.

I have run the BMW on South Mountain a few times but mostly its in the MINI. That place is very deceptive for sure. It has almost had me in a bad spot once or twice. Thank god I have a 6-point AP cage in the MINI...

It's one thing to be stupid enough to drive like that. It's another thing entirely to be ignorant enough to let it get out on the intrawebs for God and all the angels to see. Whaddatool!

he had way too much speed going into that turn and clearly was looking ahead instead of at the next turn

LOL! Just goes to show you that it's the driver not the car that makes a difference! Enjoy using the bus douchbag!

My Ride: 330M?
I think the video is fake. The steering input and the car movement doesn't match up. And if you look at when he got out of the car, the whole terrain shifted while the car is still...

My Ride: gobbles oil like a B
I think this is totally a rich kid who staged this. Look at how he's turning his hands and the wheel through all those turns, and then, right on the turn where he goes off the road and crashes into the rocks, he doesn't even move the wheel, it's almost like he is steering into the rocks. STAGED.
