Dynavin ANDROID - Hacking & Development

Hi. So I installed a D99 Android version a couple of months ago. Everything was working fine until a couple of days ago, when the touch screen will not respond any more. Weirdly it will respond to swipe gestures, as in the menu screen, but won't respond to anything else. I basically cannot use the unit. I tried resetting the unit but no improvement. Has anyone heard anything like this happen to anyone else? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

I just joined the forum because it seems to be the most comprehensive Dynavin forum around. Though I don't have a BMW, I have a Universal D99 that is getting mounted in a 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche LT (2LT)

I have not be able to find which version my unit is. I am assumimg it is a V6. Where would I find out for sure?

The D99 is currently connected to WiFi and is setup on my test bench. It works great. Though I am wondering why it also shows a TMobile 3G connection when I have not yet added a USB 3g modem.

I use an AT&T SIM card for my cell phone data connection. I happen to have another spare AT&T SIM with unlimited data. For that reason, and figuring it would be a hassle (and take longer) to constantly turn ON and OFF my battery draining 3G Wifi Hotspot, I think that I would like to add a USB 3G modem (with SIM slot) to my D99. My question is: Do I need to purchase the Dynavin 3G modem or will any 3G USB SIM modem work without to many troubles? Any recommendations on a generic 3G modem? I assume a 3G HSUPA would be the best considering my SIMs are not configured for a 4G account.

Also, if a 3G modem is added, will the phone features from my phone which is connected to the D99 via bluetooth continue to work or will the unit try to use the SIM in the 3G modem for the voice connection? Can both a USB 3G modem and USB Wifi adapter be connected simultanously so the best connection can be established? Will this cause issues while the D99 chooses the correct connection? I can envision pulling up to a stop sign and the unit sees an open wifi network from a nearby house and tries to switch, then has to switch back when pulling away from the wifi.

Finally, does any one know of a trim kit that will adapt the D99 to a late model Chevy truck? I ordered the Metra 95-3305 adapter kit for double din radios. The D99 is much bigger. Any Advice? I am concerned that making good cuts to fit the D99 into the Metra will be extremely difficult and may look too rigged for my liking.

PS...I haven't seen it out there, however has anyone found an XM or Sirus Radio that will integrate with the D99 and have onscreen controls?. I purchased the Metra kit to retain XM, however it only works via the steering wheel controls and the instrument panel lcd. Being desigined for Europe I am guessing there may never be a provision for this.
Will Dynavin be releasing a Capacitence Touchscreen model anytime soon? And is there a forseeable Android OS update that will be availible? If not what custom ROM has be the most stable/updated recently?

IM new to this and need help..I need an android rom to download since its unable to download on the android website...can some please help me

About a month agao I was also unable to get the file from the Dynavin website either, however in the end I found out I already had the most updated version. Dynavins ROM is not that good.

I purchased one that I think was called ///M3 Revolution for about $30. It is worlds better in both preformance and functionality. It was posted somewhere on this forum. On his website is the most updated version. If I recall correctly the newest version was 1.5?

I'm not sure how much you paid for your unit, but based on mine, it was a no brainer spend the extra 5% ($30) for a ROM that is 2+ times as good.

The developer said he wants to update to Android 2.3 however he can yet enough info from Dynavin. I hope the give it to him soon to resolve the 2.2 Wifi connection issues in Android itself.

PS...Dynavin's customer support is not that good. If you still need the stock ROM I wouldn't rely on them. Google or another forum member might be your best shot. Sorry, I don't have a flashable file to send you.

I need to fix the android side of this damn thing. All the links are dead on the first page. Anyone have a link of the latest unrooted software. I just bought a sd card reader for my laptop and everything and i just cant find a link. Even dynavins link is dead.

all you have to do is ask your dealer for it.....

I bought it off a member here which i think bought it off you a year ago.

The first 3 hours were great and now its just all errors. I really loved it for the start now its really ruining my weekend.

I press NAVI and it says in small letters "Dynavin-GPS Bootloader v1.01" Then it goes black. Thats it.

When you buy something second had you take on some risk, especially on complex electronics.

Can I suggest you just ask for help next time......there are many members here including myself who can help, but the tone of your comments on the other thread make people like me and my many others reluctant to help....

In general I can only provide support to my customers but im making some exceptions on this ROM thing right now as its currently unavailable directly from dynavin.

ive just purchased a brand new dynavin dvn e46 d99+ android model here in the uk.

my phones a samsung galaxy s3 android on a three uk network
im trying to connect via the dynavin supplied usb dongle via tethering on my phone.

anyone any info on setting this up please?

I am having this problem as well, I've tried 2 different SD cards, including the one that came with the unit (for reflashing!). The dynavin just will not reflash, it just boots up normally no matter what I do... Has anyone experienced or solved this issue?

wheres the navigation volume on these dynavins?

on android there are volume controls in the status bar, they will adjust the volume for whatever app is currently in use, so when the nav is "talking" press the volume icon. In addition the overall audio volume should be controlled by the volume knob, if not, change the "navi sound" setting in the radio settings menu so that android volume is always controlled by the knob. Then set the relative android volume on the status bar so that it roughly matches the radio/CD/ipod volume, once you get it where you want it (usually around 2/3) you can leave it.

theres 2 icons on the status bar,1 lowers volume,the other raises volume,so with this set at full.
and the nav apps volume full
and the headunit at about 20 i can hardly hear any navigation
