CRAP i remember back when you got the car and put the wheels on.
this really sucks. a car that i actually recognize on this site is gone. i'm really sorry man. it's really too bad about your jacket and other various things as well. just keep your head up and remember that everything lost can be replaced though and be glad no one was hurt.
once again really sorry

Damn sucks to see mate. Glad you're ok though, that's the most important thing. Don't worry you'll get another one.

I really feel for you op I have allot tied up in my 323i sedan. I really hope insurance takes care of you. I had a company hook me up decent on a no fault accident. I had just put a new motor in the truck and it was totaled. The insurance company paid me the value of the truck and in addition to the loss of the motor and the upgrades I had on it. It would have killed me to have to go through what you had to. I can remember some pretty heated arguments last year when my car was in the shop getting the motor and transmission re done. Needless to say the girlfriend wasn't a happy camper and felt second place to the car. In the end we are doing just fine. Yes girlfriend included.

It always happens to the people who don't want it to happen. I want mine to burn, get rear ended, be in a garage when it collapses, etc etc but it won't happen. It has only happened to me in the cars I actually liked.

Sorry for your loss. Hopefully insurance does you well.

Mate, lots of respect, I can appreciate every hour of work that goes into buying a car, or any asset for that matter. It was a beautiful car, but head up, time to buy something even nicer!

This is why its not always a good idea to install these aftermarket angel eyes, non-OEM batterys, etc. Because if your car goes on fire for an unrelated reason SOME insurance companies might blame it on either a bad installation or wrong battery, etc.

I'm thinking about what would cause a fire seemingly in the cabin, and I'll I'm coming up with is cigarette lighter.

Maybe a fuel line cracked or something and the car happened to make a spark when hitting something on road to ignite it?

I only recall two fires here...one (maybe two) because of the fan that didn't stop running...and the other was a guy hit a deer and his headlights ignited...some AM headlight.

None that I can recall exclusively in the cabin, though. Also, I have to say that I thought the materials in the cabin would be mostly flame retardant. Doesn't seem like it retarded the fire that much.

Jon, when you can, curious to know if you know more. Also, if you didn't know, there is a "ask an insurance agent" thread...you should read that if you've not dealt with insurance before.

Angle eyes tied to the interior lights?

Looks like clearly an electrical fire, most likely something not fused or protected correctly.

*******UPDATE*******

Insurance company just settled today. Originally they offered 6400 so we requested to grab some of the working parts off the car and we would take that unless they wanted to give us the KBB and they agreed to give us the KBB. Turned around with a counteroffer today of $9434. We are taking it. Homeowner's insurance wil be giving about $2100 for my camera and other personal items in the car. Could not have been anymore happier.

Yes. It took 26 days to work everything out. We settled today.

Ditto on the commiserations man. Sickening. I had a 3L Ford Granada 20 years ago. Pride and joy. Kept it spotless. Hard as hell standing there helplessly watching it burn knowing that its game over for her.

Its a bad feeling to let go of the car. Last year mine other car was stolen and the police found after 2 months without the dash, airbags, battery and the headliner was slashed beyond rage. But with the insurance money and topping up some more money I bought my current e46.

Glad the insurance paied you good money and homeowners insurance came up as well. Now with that money time for a new car. Good luck.

99% sure it's gonna be another e46 if not it is going to be an e92 or a suv because of the road conditions in Georgia.

I have set aside about 8k in addition to what insurance has given me to look for a e46 m3. I used to want an e9x badly, but after driving my mom and sister's e90s for a couple weeks... They are annoying and I don't care for them.
