Probably an air leak. Search thread titles for your codes...and search jfoj's sig for link to 'fix your bmw' thread. There are many hoses that can break, but the first is usually the lower intake boot.

OP, check the first 2 links below in my signature for more info.

I see you likely have a 4 cylinder engine, which we do not see many here in the US and my information is mainly for the 6 cylinder engines, however, the same type of problems likely impact your engine as well.

Check for cranked, broken and rotten rubber hoses and parts on your engine first, likely you will need to replace many of the hoses before you start with hard, expensive parts.

Sounds like the sort of thing you could find by googling it.

It's hard to find them since each BMW E46 Engine has it's own P codes and My Engine M43 isn't popular

Oh, also, I believe the fault codes vary slightly by DME version, not the engine per se. Find the DME you have and search for the codes for it. Easiest, usually, is to search for your fault codes...although I don't have them memorized, your last two are almost always an intake leak, with an occasional badly clogged fuel filter or failing fuel pump...at least, iirc.
