buy an s54, insert into z3

Ok i know 2001-2002 m roadsters are heaploads of money, if i bought a z3 myself and buy a s54 engine would it perform close to the m roadster 2001-2002?

It would be similar but I'm sure the z3m s54 has various other upgrades to make it a level up on the other cars.

IIRC the S54 in the Z3 M makes slightly more power than the e46 M3. Or maybe that's the Z4 M? Or am I completely wrong?

Pretty sure the Z4M is S54. Z3M is probably based off the E36 M3's engine.

But yes if you stuck an S54 into a Z3M, it'd be a screamer. That'd be interesting to do, though it would be difficult considering the electronics.

The last year of the z3m moved to the s54. The previous models were s52. The s54 ones are SUPER rare

You're asking that if you put an s54 in a z3.... if it would perform like a z3 m roadster that's already equipped with a s54? I believe your answer would be yes. Maybe a tid bit better because the ones in the z3/z4's are a little bit detuned.

Your suspension wouldn't be the same though, obviously.

Yep. A handful of z3s have S54s. They're rated at 330 hp due to a different exhaust route.

well obviously if this is reasonable i would upgrade the suspension and everything else, the electronics part do worry me, and labor costs, my budget right now is $15k, what about this, s54- into a e36 m3 body, since it was the best handling car in america in 97
