+1 On the Oil Cooler - don't be surprised if this solves the problem :/

Did u see what recalls we're still open such as rod bearings? That oil temp doesn't sound right at all and if u put a cooler on it will mask the problem. I'm not sure if the car goes into limp mode if oil gets to hot. It's possible

Are your sensors OEM BMW sensors? Because aftermarket ones are total crap. Specifically the camshaft and crankshaft position sensors. I just changed out a bad aftermarket crankshaft sensor. Had 400 miles on it.
230 oil temps? I'm hitting 255 at the track, no limp mode. |

oil temp is usually 20-30f higher then coolant temp. 230f for oil temp is normal. Anything beyond 260f for oil temp would need a oil cooler for track duties.

I'm just curious, has anyone tried changing the plugs yet? Do you even know what spark plugs are in the car?
I'm assuming Max PSI would have checked that nearly immediately, just curious - I've heard of this issue coming up a number of times on cars running 6's and 7's - and never seen those same individuals post it on the forum, heat range 8's seemed to help them, but this seems like its probably more complicated.

No updates. Been daily driving the car w stock tune & supercharger belt disconnected. I won't know until the weather gets warm again if it's the supercharger or car that's problematic.
I've pretty much given up on the car at this point. A slew of other issues came up, so I've decided to trade the car in to the dealer. I can't in good conscience sell this to someone else. I will be selling the supercharger for parts. The car also has decent snow tires mounted on m68s, clear euro lights, uuc ssk, & a remus catback exhaust. If anyone wants to trade their ambers or stock exhaust, shoot me a pm. |
