Notice the apostrophe on the left side of the equation for S. That is prime notation.

Look on the right side of the equation, there is a random comma.

WTF does that comma want? whats it doing there?

Ohhhh I thought you meant the apostrophe next to the first S. That's a comma, telling you they're about to hit you with the initial condition.

If you can get it, I'll be happy. It's due in 30 minutes and I'm stuck. Separating and differentiating is easy enough but past that is where I'm confused.

How are you seperating it out? I'm too baked to implicitly do this problem right now lol

My answer, minus some constant C. When I solve for C, I get the whole mess =0, which isn't right.

I don't see why yours is wrong?

I got:
k*ln(S) + S = -at + k*ln(S0) + S0

from:
k*ln(S) + S = -at + c
and
S(0) = S0

Yeah I don't either. I tried entering it with C but it won't accept it, and solving for C gives me the entire equation minus t, so plugging it back in yields a big fat zero.

When I plug in for 0 for t, and S0 for S in my equation, I get this:

k*ln(S0) + S0

And I think your equation is equivalent to mine...

Yours was:

You're just missing the + c at the right, so when you plug in 0 for t, everything should work out, no?

edit: oh but you forgot to divide the a throughout the left equation, though that doesn't change the fact that you shouldn't be getting 0.

I should plug in 0 for t to solve for C, but doing that doesn't give me anything useful. It's looking for k/a*ln(S0) + S0 = something. K and a are constants.

Cute handwriting

You forgot to transfer the "a" through on the denominator on the 5th line

I don't see where you tried to plug 0 in, but here's what I did:

edit: k*lnS0 is a constant as is S0, this should be an acceptable solution since they just want an implicit equation

The bane of my existence. I failed an ENTIRE class because of a negative symbol one time. I went to talk with the professor and all he said was "sometimes engineering is hard" and went back to his work.

I'll be here. I can do lunch from 12-2, and drinking anytime later in the day. I'll take any excuse to make reservations at Wilson and Wilson... Some scotch sounds delicious.

Drinks later on then? Going to a bunch of places in the Mission for lunch, haha. Burritos, Ice Cream, and donuts Random but have been meaning to check them out before I leave, and well, leaving this weekend, haha.

Well that was a short stint. I'm also heading out probably after this week, the city is great to visit, but hearing a neighbors every footstep is far more tedious then i'd imagine.

If you're hitting up the mission, you best be with some seasoned locals, it's the epitome of hipsterdom. If we end up heading out, my areas are the Haight, North Beach, Downtown, and russian hill/Polk street. However for this particular outing, I suggest we stay in the downtown area.

Haha, yeah, I'll be back.

I won't be with anyone, just got a bunch of tips from a coworker that lives near there. I am fine with downtown as long as I can find a place to park, lol.
