Is this to be expected with covers, or is this unusual? Haven't had much experience with it.

And for all the other people saying I should have bought the real thing---I don't have the ridiculous amount of money that a set of brembo brakes would cost. This was the best I could do at this point, to get that red look on the brakes.
I really don't have any experience with them, so I can't comment if it's unusual or not.

Need pics of this. I'm having a hard time imagining what exploding brake dust looks like.

Do they sell a 325 engine cover that will make it look like an M3's engine?
That would be cool!

I'm sure that cover will never leak or crack.

OP should consider this.

Predictable hating on the faux Brembo covers. It is just a visual mod, no different from the host of other purely visual mods out there. In my eyes it is no different from putting an M3 bumper on like a 323, yet nobody flames those people.

Why do you want other people to think you have Brembo brakes?

Here's a nice (old) brembo vid:

But, to answer your question-
Faux brake covers restricts the amount of air flow through the rims spokes > causing the normal amount of dust produced from braking to collect on the wheels more quickly.
