Followup review: BimmerBrakes Blank Rotors

I've had my BimmerBrakes rotors now for about two months I'd say. I used old pads with them (a no-no, I know, but the pads were brand-new but used and I felt no reason to have to buy new pads as well).

The good
Smooth, smooth, smooth! Perfectly smooth braking. I love it. They stop hard when I need them and stop smoothly with great modulation. The initial bite is not has hard as my previous rotors, but that is because they are harder I believe.

Because they are harder, they can be machined, which is a huge plus for me. I like that, because I don't want to buy new rotors every time I do my brakes. Call me weird, I don't care, but I like saving money, especially when places like Firestone have cheap deals on rotor resurfacing. Just take the rotors off, bring them to them, and I've got resurfaced rotors. I lose the initial big grabbiness of the OEM rotors, but I didn't really like that all too much: it made braking more rough.

The bad
Rotor hats rust, so you must pay for the premium rotors, which are a good bit of money more.

When I first examined them, the inside had jagged junks missing on the outside. Not large, small, but I can only imagine that it was from the rotor balancing process (if BimmerBrakes can comment on this that would be great). It'd be nice if those chunks were smoother because then we'd know that's how they supposed to be. Either that or I received a bad batch and had no idea They don't feel bad, though.

We'll see how they hold up over time. So far I love them, and they were an awesome deal for all four rotors.

I would recommend these rotors to anyone looking to save money on a brake job. They are very high quality and are exceptionally smooth.

Hey Anthony, I was planning on doing my FCABs this past weekend but I got rained out. I'll be doing them next weekend and can email pictures to you when I get the wheels off.
