That's cool. I don't even need to plug mine in to get all that and more though

LTE is just now picking up substantial steam to the point of becoming more mainstream. Sounds like perfect timing to get into the market.

I will, however, agree that the 4S was a disappointment. A huge one even. If my contract was up back then, I would not have bought it. The iPhone 5 is enough of an upgrade to make it worth my while now.
With ATT and sprint I agree. I think you underestimate Verizon though. They've been on the ball for awhile with LTE.

Definitely will be getting an iPhone 5 with 64GB.
How about storing data in iCloud and saving money buying a lower storage model? Especially since the 64GB model is $400 dollars on contract.

Didn't ATT switch their policy after all the throttling shitstorm and lawsuits earlier this year?

3g gets 3 gigs, LTE gets 5 for the "unlimited" plan.

Anyways, doesn't affect me. Thank god I have unlimited on Verizon.

"easy" is a relative, subjective term.

Again, "best" for who? You? Great. I need something less restricting (relative to android, although at the expense of more malware possibility), so for me, it's the worst. All the best jailbreak features being native to the OS is a plus for me too. But the majority of iphone users are probably not jailbroken, nor do they care about those features, so they're content. See how it works?

And the whole "best software-hardware integration" reasoning is a tired old cliche from years past.

So they are using just one radio for both CDMA and LTE?

I see they had to cut some corners to make it thinner...

- LTE is not late, it's right on time when most of the major providers are ramping up their LTE coverage. Why would I care/want LTE 3 years ago when it was only available in LA, Chicago, and NYC when I live in Minneapolis?
LTE is very, very late.

Verizon has had coverage in Minneapolis since December 5, 2010. It's only almost 2 years later now.

Now NFC is the new LTE. I use it a couple times a week average, the Paypass locator app shows all the retailers that support it, and there are quite a few. A whole lot more (probably most everyone) would be upgrading to it if Apple had included it and put their marketing charm on it though. It's still very usable though without them. The media has done its best to try play it down as useless since the Iphone doesn't have it. I'm sure if it did have it, it would be hailed as the greatest thing since sliced bread, rather than the "half-assed" technology it's called now .

Thanks but no thanks Apple. I'd rather have new features now rather than 2 years later. especially now that jelly bean has matched or even surpassed the smoothness and hardware-software integration of iOS. Google is first and foremost a software company, so their software evolves at a very fast pace (despite being not as good initially) compared to Apple, who as cowmoo pointed out, is first and foremost a marketing company, who consequently markets products better than anyone else.

minus the 5th grade writing style, basically true. iphones are better for most people. Simplicity is the most appealing, lowest-common-denominator feature that gets the most sales most of the time. It's not on my list of desired features though. NFC, however, is.

I'm not the one trying to make excuses by calling something an "infantile" technology just because my phone doesn't have it. Talk about being defensive... lol

Fixed. Don't try to pass the blame onto Verizon. Every other Verizon phone supports it, it was Apple that made the choice not to.

Starbucks has teamed up with Square Up to offer a different solution. A push into NFC by Apple would have likely caused them to rethink their decision though.

Actually that's all it would take. If Apple had pushed it, it would have become mainstream instantly, and vendors and retailers all over the country would be rushing to upgrade their payment terminals to include NFC since a huge new number of consumers would then be able to use it (chicken and egg problem fixed). The reason it will be delayed going mainstream is mainly because Apple has yet again decided to wait. Only in this case, NFC has already been around 2 years or so.

They are all in infantile stages of development, but all this stuff is good progress imo, and the company is thinking about the user's experience--a great thing to focus on.

You may hate them now, but I am sure when they are introduced on iOS a few years later, you and everyone else will tout them as revolutionary. LTE is late, the larger screen is late, the notification center was late (and poorly implemented).

Apple is currently focusing on one thing: design and selling iphones (which is tied to design).
So to recap, don't side with alphawhiskey

The lesson being: when disagreed with, there are two courses of action:

- bitching, moaning, and crying like a defensive cult of mac fanboy

- rationality.

and most of this thread prefers....

lol, actually Samsung alone sells twice the number of smartphones Apple does worldwide. The iPhone 5 will likely re-close the gap though. Enough about facts though...
