I just realized my 6 years old expansion tank is slowly leaking. called dealer its $140, found some cheaper brands from winchester auto parts. but not sure about quality. I can buy genuine bmw for like $90 shipped online, but dont know if my ET can hold for a week. anyone?? spare one?

It didn't leak, just gushed. I pulled up to a stop sign, heard a 'pop' as if I had run over a water bottle, then my mom started screaming at me that there was steam coming from under the hood. That was on Mother's Day

My car's an '04 and probably had about 75k. It split down the side vertically.

I replaced my cap at the same time. I don't know if my cap went bad and didn't vent the pressure and caused the ET to blow, but they're cheap anyway.
