Axle Boots Crack, Grease Smell

Fanatics; Axle boots crack, throws grease on hot metal. How do you get rid of the smell after 5,000 miles of hoping it would burn off?

I had the same thing from a blown boot. And wow that grease stinks! I used degreaser brushes & water. Take the wheel off and try to cover the brake disc & caliper (garbage bag). It's a nasty job, Iknow.

Cool thanks Rickna. It stinks so bad I can't smell the leather interior anymore. lol. I've had both innner and out boots crack. The inner driver made it smell real bad. What did you actually clean... and how did you get up to the areas where it gets hot.

I removed the wheel, and the underside pans. Spraying and scrubbing. What you can't reach will burn off in time.

Spray brake cleaner on the axle grease and wipe off as much as you can.
