I'm all for variety, but too much of a good thing is still too much. How much better is this one compared to this one? Or this one compared to that one? That's the part I can't understand, and again, goes back to the idea that I am paying this much for this car, it is the best of its kind.

Epiphany moment!! That's why they make so many different models! Some are more tailored to luxary and touring, while others are track monsters. Because they offer so many different variations you can chose the one that is the best at what you want to use it for

Hmm, I'm thinking your confusion might be that you think they are all for the same buyer. Some people buy Porsches to get groceries, and some people get Porsches only for the track. The best Porsche changes depending on what you want to do with it.

Best engine for daily driving? small turbo I4. The best engine for sounding awesome? High revving NA V10 or V12. The best engine for the track? A turbo V6.

The panamera would be the best choice for transporting multiple people

The Cayenne would be the best choice for transporting multiple people with possible trips off the beaten path or for those that feel more comfortable higher up.

As Miles said, the best car is different for everyone. The best car for my needs isn't the best car for yours.
