Anyone a corporate or real estate attorney?

Well I'm nearing the end of my high school career and I'm pretty sure I'll be studying to get into law school. Yea yea i know lawyers are a dime a dozen these days but I'm specifically interested in becoming either a corporate attorney, or a real estate attorney. Any of those on here? Just kind of wondering what to expect. Is it really going to be that hard for me to find a job once I'm out of school?? My guidance counselors pretty much just bs me whenever I bring it up with them

If you like not sleeping and working weekends, become a lawyer.

my sister finished law school recently, and i have a few lawyer friends. it's a nice, respectable degree.

the corporate lawyers work hard for their money (think 80 hr weeks). knew a girl who did it for a year, last time we talked, she said she was ready to just be a housewife and call it a day. the ones who work bank hours make like $30k/yr. you could always have your own practice though, ymmv.

i considered law school too, but ended up going another way. a jd is a great degree to hang on your wall.

but hey, you're still far from it. major in a social science or something like that and the door's wide open. all you really need to get into law school is a bachelor's degree and an lsat. sounds patronizing, but really, you're not old enough to worry about it yet. just get into a decent college and do well.

That's up there with people thinking "pre-med" is a major.

If you want to that, you should major in Econ or accounting, maybe get an MBA in finance or go CPA. Get really good grades and plan on working all the time.

I work about 50-55 hours a week on average, but 80-85 is not unusual if I have a big project.

If you want to be a real corporate lawyer, polisci will not help. You have to actually know things. IMO.

Thats kind of what I was thinking so maybe econ would be a better choice. It was just a commonly recommended undergrad degree for entering law school.

Philosophy is another common major to consider. You can squeeze in some "relevant" courses via your electives.

Even the ABA says law school is not a good idea for many prospective law students http://www.americanbar.org/content/d...thcheckdam.pdf

Google "why you shouldn't go to law school" before you try and make such a decision. If you aren't going to be graduating near the top of your class from a tier 1 law school then you will likely be working your butt off for a decade or more for crap money.
