e46 m3 starting issue

Last drove it sat night, no issues at all.
This morning it doesnt want to start. Pic below is the warning I get. According to the manual "exhaust emission values have deteriorated"

Really dont want to tow to bmw. So far only had go at disconnecting battery. Any comments would be appreciated.

Does it turn over but not turn on?

I had that happen in my m3. I parked and went for coffee, came back car
Doesn't wanna start.

Turned out to be fuel pump.

What on the dash gave you that meaning in the manual? I don't have an Australian manual but I don't think the check engine type light would have that specific message in the manual

SMG?

Is the headlight out warning expected?

Flat battery?

smg. I turn the key, eml light shows then goes and that yellow engine warning light stays. no signs of trying to start... low kms on the car, well maintained.

yeh the head light warning comes on sometimes, weird issue after I upgraded hid's.

Bonnet closed? Not sure if SMG type issues such as the salmon relay could do this. Got a spare key? Battery good?

Get the codes read is probably the next thing based on the check engine light. Surely there's an independent BMW mechanic around somewhere. Still going to need that tow.

Most warning lights come on initially to show they are working, so if the EML one goes out, it's probably OK.

Check engine light can mean lots more than what the manual says. When you go to start does the engine actually crank over and just not start? Or no cranking either?

car does nothing, just click noise when key turned all the way and i think its the headlights/angel eyes making that small click noise.

wouldnt be salmon relay, I replaced that this year and I think would show an smg warning sign.

the battery is pretty new, about 6 months old.

ill call mechanic up tomorrow maybe, see what they say

It will be the starter motor then. I have one if you need one

Usually when your cranking and its making a clicking sound the battery doesnt have a steady 12v. Maybe you didnt hook up your HID's right and it drained your battery?
