Best way to get rid of rat droppings in engine bay?

I stopped driving one of my cars for about 3 weeks and during that time a small family of rats nested in the engine bay and the smell is intolerable.

Is there some hardcore preferably antiseptic/bacterial stuff for this?

A bunch of people wash it with simple green, couldn't hurt trying.

• Check behind heat shield for nests or decomposing matter

• Checking electrical wiring for any damage

• Treat for odor with appropriate chemicals.
