TWD presents 2 new Coatings/Sealants

At TWD, we are always testing new products.
We had the chance to test out 2 brand new products that will be released into the Australia market this month.

These are 2 of the newest sealants out there. Very different technologies and slightly different results - BOTH impressive

Car: 2012 BMW 1M in Valencia Orange

Product: Wolf's Chemicals Hard Body Nano Sealant

Procedures:

Step 1. Full wash & Clay to clean paint work.

Step 2. Apply Wolf's Chemicals Shine & Seal Nano Sealing Polish

We used this to 'jewel' the paintwork. This car was 2 weeks old and needed no paint correction work, but we used this product to further clean the paintwork. Immediately, we added shine and the paint looked wet and felt glossy.
This is a 2-in-1 product. It polishes (very minor/finishing) and seals the paintwork. Apparently, we're looking at 6 months alone just using this product.

Step 3. Apply Wolf's Chemicals Hard Body Nano Sealant.

Instead of using a hand application pad, we applied the sealant via finishing pad and RO machine.

Final Comments:

Similar to Body Wrap in terms of application, general appearance and depth. The difference is, this product is slicker than the Body Wrap. Also, we have a manufacturer's claim of around 2 years durability and slight scratch resistance

Car: 2012 Mercedes C250 Coupe in Fire Opal Red

Product: 22PLE VX1 Pro Glass Coating

Procedures:

Step 1. Full wash & Clay to clean paint work.

Step 2. Paint Correction with Menzerna polishes

Why paint correction? Because of the solid colour (non metallic) paintwork, we are able to see any type of imperfection easily. We got it next to perfect before it was covered in the coating.

Step 3. Apply 22PLE Glass Coating Pro.

This was applied by hand using a specialised foam applicator. Curing time prior to removal is around 5 mins (quicker than the Hard Body) so you can only do a couple of panels at a time. Not the easiest product to use.

Final Comments:

Because the car needs to be kept undercover for 8-12 hours, we couldn't really see obvious results until the next day.
Unmatched wet look. Probably the most glossy coating I've seen. Very hard looking layer over the paintwork. Looks like there's water just sitting there on the paint. Not as slick as other products out there, but time will tell as the product fully hardens within 5 days.
Again, the manufacturer claims around 2 or more years durability and slight scratch resistance.

Do a Melbourne tour my 120i paint is utter crap and needs attention although I can't afford your services at the moment looks great might attempt a detail my self one day soon.

That is really impressive, the mercedes paint looks ridiculously reflective....I want to give it a try, how much will these products cost?

The pricing that Nick quoted is what we charge for application. Depends on size of car and is additional to Paint Correction Detailing.

I must say, the Hard Body will be very popular. The product's performance and application seems to be very impressive

22PLE is unbelievable, but it's not for everyone

You are right about poisitioning. My photography skills aren't very good!

Raj how does the hard body compare with an lsp such as CG Jetjeal 109 or even something like Blackfire Wet diamond sealant? I'm going to assume it will be much longer lasting but what about shine and looks?
I've also recieved a free bottle of Permanon Platinuim - have you heard of it? http://www.permanonusa.com/Platinum.html. All you need to do is spray on a prepped surface and it immediatly bonds and can be washed off. I'm yet to try it out as I corrected the paint on the M3 the other week and applied the jetseal as I want to use it up first before trying anything else.

What does paint correction consist of Hazey82 just curious as i want to bring my paint back to life.

I am by no means an expert but my cars always look great
There are varing levels of correction depending on condition of the paint.

But basically its
1. Decontamination which involves claying the car to lift bonded contaminants, it will make the paint feel smooth and slick like glass
2. Swirl removal using machine polisher
3. Preping the paint with a cleanser so its ready to accept a sealant

With mine the paint was already great and I just wanted all the minor swirls gone (which were only seen under certain lighting) which I achieved

Aidan, depends what you are looking for. I haven't had a chance to try those products you have mentioned. However, I believe these are the market leaders as they tick more boxes than the products you have mentioned.
I have heard of The BF Wet Diamond having superb gloss levels, but I could not tell you how they compare against these 2.

The Permanon products are hopeless. Have used them before and they do not last. I guess a free bottle is nice though

There are MANY products out there that offer benefits but it comes down to preference.

I will eventually coat the wheels, metal parts and plastics/trim too with 22PLE

We are also testing a couple of new Nanolex Sealants on a new Gallardo with matte paintwork and yet ANOTHER VO 1M soon too

Con, technically, you could. But you probably wouldn't bother with these coatings. However, I have a habit of wet waxing every time I wash the car.
