Peake codes 19 E3 E4

I got codes 19 E3 E4 for 2004 325xi from my Peake Research R5/FCX-3.

Table 19
E3 is O2 sensor adaptation limit Cyl # 1-3
E4 is O2 sensor adaptation limit Cyl # 4-6

and was going to replace O2 sensors, but saw threads concerning DISA. I used the two youtube videos below to find the DISA and confirm its bad.

Were you only getting the E3 and E4 O2 Sensor adaptation codes? I'm also getting the following; CA and CB O2 Sensor control limit codes.
Prior to replacing the pre-cat O2 sensors, I was also getting a random misfire on all 6 cylinders. Replacing the pre-cat O2 sensors and clearing the codes, the new Bosch O2 sensors took care of the random misfire condition (the pre-cat O2 sensors will lean the mixture too much and can cause the random misfires. I was leaning towards the DISA being the last of my problem and watching those 2 videos seems to confirm my thoughts so I will be ordering a new one so that it is on hand when I remove and inspect the old one (my old DISA has been making some noise so I'm sure it isn't working correctly AND if I clear the 4 codes, I can drive several days until the same 4 codes light the service engine soon light.

Take the DISA out as it takes 5 minutes and then compare to that guys new one. My flap did not spring back and the little connector thing didn't move either. That's all the code I got today. Going to replace and run the car to see if I get anymore codes. If I do I'll post here.

May take it out tomorrow afternoon prior to ordering a new one, however, based on that 1 video and some other research I did, I'm pretty sure that my DISA is not functioning correctly and now is the last of my problem. If you do start throwing random misfire codes, if the plugs and coils are ok, then go for the pre-cat O2 sensors. I got mine via Amazon for less than $50.00 a piece for the Bosch units.

Do you possibly think this could be related to my error codes?

okay, just got my disa in the mail today, will try and get it installed tomorrow and see what it does. wish me luck lol

Update:

Sorry it took so long, forgot to come back and update lol. I replaced my DISA and am glad to report that it cleared up all my issues. Running great now.

Make sure you clear all the codes out once you install the new DISA. See if any show up again and read what they are and report all codes here (you should have stated them all with original post). You may well find that you will still have to replace both pre-cat O2 sensors, as faulty pre-cat O2 sensors can give you the adaptation limit codes and the random misfires of all cylinders due to a lean condition.

I wasn't throwing any codes but I found that my DISA was shot. The cheapest price for a replacement was aboout $190. I found this repair kit. http://germanautosolutions.com/DISA_...epair_Kit.html It's supposed to make it better than new and for $82 shipped I decided to give it a try. I'll post up on the results when it's done.

Replaced the broken DISA, then fule pump went, so now replace fuel pump and filter. Now I just have to fix the oil loss and white cloud from exhaust. Car has 171K miles on it.

I am getting this code. I bought the DISA kit and rebuilt it. But the code still came back :[

Glad this thread got bumped up! I've had those codes coming up and tried the oxygen sensors, but never thought to check the disa. Just pulled it out and it's shot. Now to research to see if the rebuild kits really work or if I should just replace the whole unit.

The kit is great! I've used it and the price went up on the complete valve.

Rebuilding the DISA with the GAS kit is easy, just follow the online directions. When finished the rebuild is superior to a new DISA and it will defienetly outlast an new one. And you can't beat the price.
