Pendulum motion is high school physics. The frame rate of the video has nothing to do with the effect. God help you if you actually have a degree... :Quote:

Also, if you knew anything about engineering you would know that physics is not the only thing involved... It's MUCH MUCH more than your incompetent brain can comprehend. Last edited by boostedisbetter; 10-04-2012 at 07:59 AM. |

Not quite... Maybe read up some? If you actually are an ME, you'll appreciate the type of industry Huntsville is known for. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Bimmer App |

Also, this is simple physics. Not sure why an arguement is going over this. With the number of both real and armchair engineers we have on this forum, I figured this wouldn't be a big deal. Last edited by SamDoe1; 10-04-2012 at 09:05 AM. |

Your post proves nothing. Math is not science. Everybody is free to define it whichever way they want, but in the academia, it is not. Go ask your professors.

You guys really need me to tell you that more than physics is involved in becoming a ME? I thought there was wiki for a reason... -Heat transfer -Thermodynamics -Constantly using calculus -Kenematics and Dynamics -Vibrations -Machine Design -Material properties -Using programs like Solidworks to design products -Using communication skills to relay your ideas into words(hard to find in an ME) Yes, some of these subjects have physics involved, but it's not JUST physics. Go try and pass the courses in this degree and then come talk sh*t, it's not easy... Last edited by boostedisbetter; 10-04-2012 at 10:14 AM. |

Using "pretty much just applied Physics" is a stupid statement for a ME to make, if you are one... "This design will PRETTY MUCH work"... ![]() So you passed all the classes... and didn't graduate??? Last edited by boostedisbetter; 10-04-2012 at 11:20 AM. |

I hardly think that's a good analogy to make. Of course I graduated...I thought that would be a given since I passed everything. Last edited by SamDoe1; 10-04-2012 at 11:21 AM. |

NOT, what else is involved in pendulum motion... haha, you're an engineer, you know what they say about "givens" lol. You should never assume something is GIVEN being a ME, NEVER assume! Assuming is the product of bad communitcation. Nasa killed people assuming. |

Agreed.

Another example: Einstein was not aware of tensor algebra when he came up with his special/general theories of relativity. He then found that his ideas are better represented with tensor algebra, so he went ahead and used it. See, existence of math was not initially required for our understanding of nature in the case of objects moving with a velocity close to that of light, or in the case of massive objects with masses a few times that of the sun. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against math, in fact I love it. In academia, mathematicians are fully aware of that math is a language. Don't know why it is so hard for most people to accept the fact that it is not science. It's not like I'm insulting them or anything, just laying out the truth
