Smile Help installing coilovers? (Vancouver)

I recently was able to buy used Bilstein B14 PSS coilovers for relatively cheap, as well as new front and rear strut mounts. I'd like to install the coilovers myself, but I don't have all the right tools (spring compressor etc.).

Is there anyone that would volunteer to help me install them? I'd of course make it worth a couple of six packs at the very least. I'm in the Vancouver area...

Rent the compressors at crappy tire. What other tools do you need besides a jack, stands, a good socket set, and some muscle?

Don't forget the spanner wrenches to adjust the height. I was able to install my coils without compressors. Granted, different makes have different spring heights... and they really would have come in handy at the time. I just got a friend to push the control arm down while i slipped the springs in. Not the most ideal way, but do-able.

Would anyone be willing to help me, I'm slightly intimidated by it all? I've done lots of modding, even for others, but only cosmetic & electrical, not heavy duty mechanical.

Like I said, I'll try to make it worth their while...PM me I guess. I want to learn and will obviously pass on the knowledge

I found replacing the suspension on my M really easy, apparently its easier on the non-M cars.

There's nothing to be intimidated by. The rear is ridiculously easy. Are the front coils already assembled? If so, then the front is silly easy.

I don't really have any time on a weekend anytime soon, yet could help after work one day. Do you have a garage? jack? stands? sockets? do you have the spanner wrenches for the coilovers? Post a pic of the coilovers so I can see what you've got.

Where in the city are you? Hopefully "Vancouver" doesn't mean Maple Ridge. :p

You said you have new front strut mounts? I assume you mean strut hats? If so, you could try assembling the front struts to see if you'll need spring compressors.

Essentially stand a strut on the flat bottom, ensure the strut is pulled all the way out, remove the nuts, put the spring on then the strut hat and see if you can thread the nut on. You might have to push down on the strut hat to expose enough thread to get the nut on. 2 people makes this much easier.

If you can do this, then no spring compressors required. I thought I needed them, yet ultimately could have done it without them using this technique suggested by Alvin.

Coq.... traffic sucks to get there after work.

My Ride: 1999 323i 4dr 5-spd.
If you go over to my posts you will see how I put my street edge in but I bought new strut tower bearings and kept the orig susp in tact. Basically three bolts at the top and two on the bottom. Real easy. You will need a pass thru wrench kit from crappy tire tho to tighten the bolts on the top of the strut. But pretty straight forward. But it looks like you setup has stock style springs ( top portion anyhow) so additional parts might be needed. The rears were a bit awkward as I forgot to release the handbrake so do that when you have it up, I wouldn't rely to heavily on the BMW emerg jack tho to hold the weight for long!!. You will need both front wheels off the ground at the same time tho'

Can't think of much more
