If you've got nothing to hide then you're good. But this 50/50 feeling shows that you have some insecurities about your history. Worry does nothing about the outcome of your trials. If this door closes, a better one will usually come up. Have a drink or two for lunch. Good luck, man.

But nothing is official until you have an offer letter in front of you.

I think Martin's nervous because he he got turned down after a background check before.

Which makes us wonder, what's dubious in Martin's history? Got caught "validating" boobs in Vegas? Lawsuit from F2B over the joint investment? Too many girls at one time? Or an outstanding injury claim from Meyli?

Lol....my background is as clean as can be. I'm nervous because years ago I interviewed at a company where they couldn't the company proceeded with a background and reference check on the top 2 candidates. I didn't get that job mainly because the other person had 10+ years of controller experience and I only had a few years experience of being a controller. That's what is causing me to think the worst....that it's 50-50.

Good luck. Weird things can happen, but generally, by the time they put in the resources for a background check, they're ready to offer.

They'll make an offer to the top two (you and X) and play you fools off one another for the lowest salary/benefit package they can get you for.

Called two out of my three references. One of my references (former bosses) told him that he would hire me in a heart beat (I'm too expensive at this point). The HR recruiter responded with...."we are leaning that way too" Damn, I want to get but at the same time I don't want to jinx myself.

The first part. My current salary is at the low end of their pay range. Their range is my current salary to my current salary +$20k.

You probably got it, they only do background and reference checks on potential candidates. I just had one done six weeks ago and I got the job. I was in your same position, I lost sleep on some nights thinking about it. I think the reference thing is retarded, who put bad references on their resume. My current manager didn't call any of the references on my resume. She asked a few people she knew if they know me. They said good things about me. You never burn any bridges, there are people who annoys me but I pretend to like them. It's a small world.

Yeah, who the heck would ever put down references who wouldn't give good feedback? Here's the questions that they asked my references (they talked to 2 out of the 3 today):

- how did you meet him
- how long have you known him
- strengths/weaknesses
- how is his work environment at your company
- work attendance
- would a manager view him as high/low maintance
- what elements make him successful

Both of my references sensed that I'll be getting an offer based upon their conversation but for me it's not for sure until I have that offer in hand....I just hate waiting...
