HUGE DIFFERENT!
I have the Eibach Anti-Roll Kit for F+R 27mm in the front 21mm in the rear I think they are more effective than springs, especially on high speed corners. Last edited by J LAU; 10-02-2012 at 06:42 AM. |

Easy to show in the box.
Harder to show on the car! Did you get new links to put on at the same time? Last edited by Stinger9; 10-03-2012 at 10:55 AM. |

This chart is only relevant for solid sway bar sizing. Last edited by subieworx; 10-08-2012 at 06:56 AM. |

Stock.
A typical hollow bar has a .25" wall thickness and with lots of complicated math can be found to have a lower overall stiffness than a solid bar. Most 25mm bars have an equivalent stiffness to a solid 22mm. |

True, they save steel and weight with a hollow bar because the torsional rigidity is derived mostly from the resistance to twisting of the steel at the outer part of the radius rather than the steel they 'remove' from the core.
How can you tell whether your bar is hollow or solid for sure? Try a heavier bar sometime on your car. Very satisfying. Why is the math more complicated than computing the rigidity for a solid bar and then subtracting the rigidity of a solid bar with the diameter of the hollow space within? |

Think about that. If the bar was 25mm OD with .25" wall thickness that would mean that the inside diameter (hollow section) would be 12.3mm. That would leave an equivalent stiffness of 12.7mm i.e. the 25mm hollow bar is WAY less stiff that a stock 20mm bar. (all hypothetical bar sizes) The math is quite complicated.
My saying that a 25mm hollow is roughly equivalent to a 22mm solid is a gross oversimplification. The actual wheel rate of a bar is also influenced by the lever arm of the bar. A bar with a 12" lever arm is going to be much less stiff than a bar with a 1" lever arm as that arm (as measured from the center of the portion of the bar that spans the bushings) due to the mechanical advantage of the longer arm. Example: a 50mm bar with a 12" lever arm could actually have an equivalent stiffness that is less than a 10mm bar with a 1" lever arm. (just for reference and very likely not the case, but you get the point) |

I did think about it. I don't think you understood my suggested methodology. Please re-read.
And I normalized the length of the lever arm for comparative purposes. No need to factor them in. |

Wasn't trying to be mean.
I understand what you said as I described in my example. The lever arm example was to help people further understand sway bars. |

My Hotchkis bars made a HUGE difference. And with my coilovers now the chassis has little to no roll. The limiting factor now is solely just my tires
