Yeah hahah I cropped the pic, it was a dinner for the non-profit I work at. We went to Wolfgang's (one of my favorites, phenomenal steak) and got to meet the owner which was pretty awesome.

So Ed is planning to come out this way to visit on the weekend of the 18th.

Coincidentally, that is also the first day of the Brooks Brothers Corporate sale.

I'll take a picture this weekend because I was pretty impressed with the quality of work. I was expecting to be able to see the black rubber piece from a side profile on the sole, but they use some cobbler trickery to make it look as if no modification had been done.
Thanks for the info - I'm considering getting some on a pair or two for some traction and extra sole wear.
Both pairs (AE Strands and Randolphs) have reasonably light wear on the soles, so I'm hoping that is no issue at all.

i don't like topys and such. i get that perhaps it makes the shoe last marginally longer. but it seems sacrilege to me. real rubber soles are fine if you prefer them. but well made leather soled shoes are such a rarity these days that it seems a shame to cover them with cheap rubber.

There's a cobbler here who can re-sole my shoes for about 45 bucks a pair. So it doesn't make sense to me to have a Topy put on for 15 bucks less.

I guess everything for corporate members is 30 percent off. BB has better sales, but this is a solid one. I think the best one is right after Christmas.

I think it's "up to" 40 percent off. I also believe that you can stack your discounts if you use the BB credit card (I don't buy anything on credit so that's a no-go for me).

I hear you. I mainly interested in the traction and the possibility to wear them without worry after some rain. I hate the hassle of overshoes, but might just continue with that and add some heel/toe taps. I haven't decided yet if I'll do anything at all.

For me, it's not an issue of longevity. I expect the same sole life with or without a Topy. I like a Topy for added traction (I swear some of the buildings here butter the floors), and because it keeps the toe from getting chewed up.

robbing with a sword is a good thing

the best way to get really personally useful advice is if you post pictures of you wearing suits
so we can tell you what you're doing right and what could be improved on
i posted dozens of pictures of SF and got a lot of beatdowns before i started getting thumb ups and compliments
through all that, i realized i am not ready to wear any fancy combinations just yet and that i get the best feedback when i stick to the basics and improve within those boundaries

Gents,
A while back I asked about the Wolverine 1000 Milers. Im new to this whole style thing and appreciate the help I get from you all. My question is if I get a nice pair of leather boots such as those do I have to treat them with something before I wear them? Also, any rules about wearing them in the rain/snow? Id imagine the sole would get slick, but is it bad for the boot? Also, anyone drive a clutch with the leather sole? Does your foot tend to slip off in rainy weather?

Thanks In advance guys!
