Schmiedmann headers

I decided to purchase the schmiedmann headers, since they were offering a 50% discount for the first person to buy it and take mounting pictures for them etc.
they came the other day and everything was fine, parts were good, welding was good.
Until I saw a few dents on the nek of one of the headers.... And I do not believe fed ex is responsible because those dents are in a awkward position where it would be really hard to hit since the dents are around the neck of the header. Everything else was fine, The cats, the other header. No dents. Also the way it was packaged, it didn't seem like the neck of that header could be dented.


Now here's my question,
1. will these dents around the neck of the header affect performance? I know it probably will but not noticeable enough for me to realise .
2. Should I try get the guys at schmiedmann to remake me just that header?
3. And anyone know a good place in Brisbane to get them installed?
4. a friend told me that I need to make sure the guy who does my job put sealants around the header when installing and not just bolting it on, so air doesn't leak out . Is this true? Because he said some shops just bolt it on?

I would have them remade.
It would take quite a hit to dent one of those. Either FedEx royally raped your package or they weren't made right. Someone is responsible

Hmm, looks good! but that's a pretty big dent. I'd be contacting schmiedmann to see what they can do. I don't know about putting sealants around the headers...I would have thought the gasket would suffice? You could replace the gasket if your OEM one looks worn.

I emailed the company and they never responded, where did you purchase headers from OP? Cheers.

Looks like it would effect performance.

I emailed them a while back and they never responses aswell. But I would try and contact Schmeidmann and see what they have to say.

i just emailed the company, sent emails to different sale staffs, and after a while they finally replied lol

Schiedmann have alway replied to me via facebook

What happened to you getting these headers?

Send them back or try to get the dents fixed (if possible), that is not a small dent that you can just forget about.

I don't think the dint in headers is going to affect performance at all. If these are the first set of rhd headers from schmiedmann, they may have dinted them to fit them on car. Your friends advice is wrong. No need for sealant, if gasket is installed correctly.

Yeah definitely rooted. Tell you what sell them to me for $600 and you can buy a new set

It's not that big a dint,

If it bothers you, just get that piece repaired/re-welded at an exhaust place here, shouldnt cost you more then $100 ?
It would deffinatley be quicker then sending them back to the U.S and by the time they send another unit out etc..?

Considering the reason they sold them too you at a cheaper price the first thing I would do would be contact them..

They want pictures of these things, my bet is they want pictures that show their product in the best possible light.. dinted headers don't meet that criteria.. let them decide how to proceed.
