any advice on problem??

so heres my problem i bought a 05 m3 2 weeks ago to this past sat im the 2nd owner it has always been serviced at the dealer the thing is immaculate.i was out too dinner fri night and ran a friend home afterwardes cars been running shifting (its smg) no problems at all i run into his house for 5 minutes come back too car and the car wont start cant move the shifter and theirs nothing reading out on the dash as too which gear it is??i tried geetting it going for like 3 hours disconnected battery term checked ALL fuses pushed brake pedal HARD hood sensor looked ok door sensor also...when i unlock car i dont hear pump priming at all..so i give up for the night and in the a.m. head too the bmw dealer too buy a new salmon colored relay ive been reading about that goes bad no luck none in stock couldnt get it till weds??so talk too a tech and he tells me check all fuses again that it sounds like a software prob so i do again and their all good.nothing left too do but get it towed too a local shop ive had rebuild my e36 motor years ago guy nows his stuff..so he calles me today and says that for that model and year bmw doesnt release the software too read these codes WTF!!!so get the car towed for another $130 in 2 days too the beemer dealer..if anyone has had this problem gimme some advice what it could be dealer should give me a call tomorrow when they scan it but this sucks.ive called the dealer i purchased it from informing them what has happend and their being cool about it telling me too keep them informed about what i find out.i bought the car out of state from a high end dealer this just sucks 2 weeks and its in the shop.

Not much to say. The dealer has your car now, so all you / we can do is to wait for what they tell you. Make sure you get a detailed list of the codes / issues.

We can give you suggestions after that point.


NOTE: For being able to read the BMW codes and diagnose the car, there are BMW specific readers available to the public and the automotive industry.

Now if you want the BMW proprietary software diagnostic tools, that's another story of cost and availability. Now several of the older tools are available to the more enterprising individuals over here.

well just stopped in at the dealer and apparently for some reason even their equipment not working the cars smg isnt responding too their scan machine.they said they can talk too every system but the smg system so they got me charged for 3 hours at $135 an hour too try and figure out why??im bangin my head??

You are in wisconsin. Sorry.

For sure try salmon relay first. That is what mine was. After that its probably the SMG pump. I just can't believe they don't have anyone there to read the codes.

so the dealer finally calls me this afternoon and tells me my dsc module is the problem and that the parts $1250 and with labor its $1950 installed?i think this dealers takin me for a ride ive got a friend thats a parts manager he can get low mileage used and new parts as well.problem is this guy at the dealerships telling me i HAVE TOO have a virgin module brand new cause it can't be reflashed???i think this guys full of it why would they sell used ones and i have been rreading on the forums that guys do and they can be reflashed??anyone have this problem advise??im gonna call some shops around here tomorrow and ask them
