No offense but the Armstrong defenders need a reality check with facts.

Hope they lock this guy up.

why the hell are we wasting tax payer money to fund a program to harass and track down athletes. Does anyone else find that absurd?

I take it you didn't read the article? Or maybe didn't realize there was a 2nd page?

Quote:
While the criminal investigation is no more, an inquiry by the Department of Justice is continuing, sparked by Landis’s filing a federal whistle-blower lawsuit charging that Armstrong and the team management defrauded the government by using taxpayer dollars to finance the squad’s doping program.

He claimed that Armstrong and the team management were aware of the widespread doping on the team when the squad’s contract with the Postal Service clearly stated that any doping would constitute default of their agreement, said two people with knowledge of the case. Those people did not want their names published because the case is still under seal.
Now, an accusation doesn't mean he DID commit such fraud. But that's a pretty serious accusation and if it can be substantiated, it should be fully investigated by the govt. The crux of the whole thing would be "did Lance and other USPS riders dope?". So I hope you can see how it would be relevant.

The question immediately arises of what DOJ is going to be able to find after Birotte spent 2 years and a zillion $s investigating (presumably with subpoena powers) and turned up absolutely nothing he considered worth prosecuting.

However, IF Lance doped (still gonna need an explanation for all these supposed objective, scientific drug tests he passed), then it's not just about a bike race in some foreign country.

Wait...athletes use performance enhancing drugs? SHOCKING!

Society as a whole needs to get over this boner we collectively have about steroids. Amazing that so many people have such an issue with something nearly nobody understands.

robbing with a sword is a good thing
