in canada when i go to dealership i tell them this part is from a euro spec models and they can order it for me, its a different search within their part system, perhaps you can tell them to search the eruo parts catalog.

Much obliged my friend.
Although sometimes I swear my ZKE menu looks different compared to others ive seen used for explanations. For example not as many options to check on and off. Is this possible?

I have a 04 325ci build date 06/04 with power and memory seats and mirrors. I just bought the mirror switch from ecstuning. But does this mean the auto fold function wouldn't work cause I don't have the mirror frames that fold themselves like you guys stated?

Hello,
I have read this DIY about power folding mirrors and that has got me interested to do that on my car... Described a couple of options about which parts are needed in different situations and now I am a bit confused. My car came out of the factory originally with NO power/memory seats and manual folding NON memory mirrors, it is a 320Ci from 08/2001. I do have a set of OEM M3 manual folding NON memory mirrors on the car. I have an option on a pair of OEM M3 full-option mirrors (power fold and problaby memory) with 12 pin connectors. I want to swap the entire internals because the mirrors I can buy are a different color. If I do that I will have a set of full option M3 power folding memory mirrors in my cars color with 12 pin connectors. Now... What do I need to get the power folding function to work??? Option A: YOU WANT TO INSTALL NON-MEMORY POWER FOLD MIRRORS: Car's production date is from 09/1999 up to 03/2003-6 PIN/2 PIN CONNECTORS x1 Heated outside mirror, left P/N: 51168245129 $344.82 x1 Heated outside mirror, right P/N: 51168245132 $344.82 x1 Yellow Switch f mirror adjust./folding back function. P/N: 61318373732 $67.34 x1Control Unit/module outside mirror fold-in function OBSOLETE-P/N: 61358376506 or Control Unit/module outside mirror fold-in function NEW-P/N: 61359177976 $83.78 or Option B: YOU WANT TO INSTALL MEMORY POWER FOLD MIRRORS: Car's production date is from 09/1999 up to 03/2003 - 12 PIN CONNECTOR x1 Heated outside mirror with memory left P/N: 51167003437 $344.82 x1 Heated outside mirror with memory right P/N: 51167003440 $344.82 x1 Purple Switch f mirror adjust./folding back function P/N: 61316901383 $67.34 -And you should already have in your car: x2 Control units, mirror memory NEW-P/N: 61356916054 $125.69 (x2) or Control units, mirror memory OBSOLETE-P/N 61356913364 (x2) The confusion comes from the fact that the car originally came without power/memory mirrors and I have a set of power/memory mirrors to install. I hope somebody can clear this up for me, it would be of great help!!! Best regards, Joost Kuiper (the Netherlands, europe) |

How difficult would it be to install power folding mirrors onto a zhp? I was told that the zhp mirrors have ribbons instead of a 12 pin connector.

Seems awesome Steve.
I guess I should've rephrase my question and stated that I was looking to do a m3 power folding mirror retrofit. Not sure how complicated and difficult that is yet. However, after all this reading and learning about it I am really looking forward to doing this retrofit. By the way I just got a ZHP in the same color. |

I just manage to complete the retrofit, including the fuse in position 57 in the Fusebox.
Is it factory for the folding mirrors to operate even if the key is not in the ignition?

Hi Delmarco, maybe you should give the clear answer. I'd like to do the memory mirrors retrofit but without memory seats. Do you think it is possible? Want I really want is to fold the mirrors via remote control. Thank for advise to all of us. Johny

Hey Johny. Yeah you would just need to add the memory modules in the doors. But I am not sure how not having the memory seats would affect the overall system.
EDIT: But the whole idea of memory mirror is that they work with memory seats. To want one and not the other is not good and not cost effective. There is no additional advantage of having memory mirrors if you don't have memory seats. I would just get the non-memory mirrors and the non-memory module and call it a day.

If I recall you used the OEM module behind the glovebox, did you need to do any coding to enable this function to work?

I have been getting some PMs lately.
Apparently some seller on eBay is selling non-memory mirrors AS memory mirrors but they are NOT memory mirrors. So when the mirrors arrive in the mail buyers are not seeing 12 pin connectors on them. Looking at the connectors on these pictures below: Your mirrors will ONLY have a memory function IF there is a 12 pin connector on the end of the wire leaving the mirrors. So to replace your old (for cars between 1998 - 3/2003) memory manual fold mirrors with memory power fold mirrors you must buy power folding mirrors that have the 12 pin connectors. ![]() ![]() Second set of questions I get are from folks with 2003/2004 thru 2006 BMW E46 coupes and sedans and M3s asking what mirrors to get or rather they bought memory mirrors only to realize there is no pin connector plugs present but rather ribbon connectors that looks like they came out a Laptop Computer DVD Rom Drive's connection. If your BMW E46 is from 3/2003 thru 2006 then your Memory Power Fold Mirrors connectors will look like what you see below: ![]() ![]() ![]()
