This is awesome! I have been trying to figure out how I am going to get a jack under my car after I install my new suspension, looks like I will need to make a few "mini" ramps.

I learned the hard way yesterday that you cant jack up one side at a time of the front and put it on stands easily; I had the front right on a stand@ the jackpad, and was slowly jacking up the left, when i heard an odd "scrunch" sound, the car didn't seem to move, but i went around and checked the passenger side to find the stand up into the side skirt It had slid about 1-2" off the pad.

2.75" x 1" hole punched right through, thankfully it didnt seem to bend the body shell behind it any.

I jacked it back up by the pad and extracted the stand, then decided to do my brakes one corner at a time with the stand under the closest pad!

My 2003 sedan has the oval shape and it looks to be pretty crushed already, so next time i do the oil i will jack from there.

I did make myself some nice 2"x12" mini ramps to gain clearance for the low profile jack to hit the area in red others have referred to, next time i will try jacking from the oval and putting the stands under the framerails.

So: Green area is bad, yes or no? E46Mango says very bad, and from what I have heard he is an engineer, and I trust engineers when it comes to structures.

Hi r0x, is there a chance when lifting from the rear, that the car slides either forward or backwards on the two front jack stands ? the rear jack would have to move when lifting the rear so as such the car doesnt move, right?

Note the dents in my side-skirt where the jackstand dug into the bodywork. Nice, right? Try to avoid that. Use two jacks.

Most jack stands don't fit right on the rubber jack pads. It's best to use flat top jack stands with pad adapters on top.

i think i'm going to try a set of these but without jack pad adapters. i use my jack which has a flat top without adapters. yes, jack points gouge the rubber pad slightly but i'd rather have fewer pieces to the puzzle, personally. i'm really not sure why no one has designed replacement plastic jack points that are solid/rounded plastic/rubber that would fit into the groove of typical jack stands??? it's annoying to have to spend $200+ on jackstands to prevent crushing the jack points.

all i want to do is have my car on jack stands to make changing brakes/wheels/brake fluid easier. is that SOOOO much to ask?? haha. ridiculous!

anyway, thanks for reminding me about these flat top stands. i've been looking for one with a solid top that i could cut down and stick up inside the jack point which isn't a bad option either, but i don't really like cutting down jacks stands either. then they're useless on any other car, too.

another guy made these adapters that fit OVER a jackstand and INTO a jack point. pretty nice actually.
