1999 323i GM 5L40E Transmission Rebuild Help

Hi,

Soon I am going to rebuild my 5L40E transmission in my 1999 323i. Its slipping in 4th gear. My independent tech tested all of my solenoids and pressures and everything points to an overhaul. The car has 202,000 miles on it so its about time anyways.

Do i need to remove the valve body in order to overhaul the interior parts? I would rather stick to the cluches since everything is already operating properly in the valve body.

Any tricks or special tools I will actually need for this transmission would be helpful. By special tools i mean the tools listed in the ATSG overhaul manual not standard overhaul tools.

I am ready to get started on this project and any help from you guys would be great.
