Never understood the purpose of those types of filters anyway. Most of them are kind of like a "short ram" style intake... which will usually end up sucking in all of the hot air in the engine compartment. A true cold air intake (one built into the fender/lower part of the bumper so that it actually sucks up cold air) seems to be a better way to go. Nonetheless, if I were to put an intake on my E46, it would probably be the OEM "BMW Performance" intake.
