My friend is considering suicide

I dont know what to even say to him. How should i approach this? He came to my house this morning say he got into a fight with his mom and hes selling all his stuff to pay for bills and such. Saying things like ill see you on the other side man. I told him not to give up is really all i could say. Im going to see him agian later, what should i tell him?

I'd google what to say...and if he's your friend, you'll spend some time getting some thoughts.

I suspect, most advice would suggest you get him to see someone...how you do that, I don't know.

But let him know you're there for him...get a group of his friends together and hang out. Have a good time with him, but not too good of a time.

Seek professional advice...Fanatics might not be the best source!

As funny as post #2 is, I see some serious logic and excitement in it.

I don't know how I'd handle a good friend contemplating it... That being said, I also don't know how I'd feel telling him to go a few bouts in the ring with a great white shark .

If you're not feeling like telling him to become an international man of mystery, maybe try telling him to buy a puppy or something. If he's seriously on the way to checkout, just buy one for him and surprise him with it. Those cute little fvckers are great sadness sponges.

Seriously, tell him to call a suicide hotline or speak to his preacher or if he is in college go to the medical clinic and see if they have mental health resources available.

One of my teammates commuted suicide a month ago out of no where. Whole team was pretty beat up as we had no idea. Honestly you need to just be with him. Talk to him about what's going on. There is no way I would've let him leave earlier in a distressed state. Take him to maybe a view spot and just reflect on everything in life. Sometimes people just needs someone to talk to. When you see big cities and lights it kind of puts things into perspective as to what the world has to offer someone. It's a touchy situation, but if I even had 2 minutes back with my buddy to find out why or prevent what he did I would give anything.

As far as anyone else goes, you guys really have no idea until you're i nthe situation. 2 months ago I would say you are a fuking idiot stop being a dumbass you're so selfish blah blah blah. Good advice. Especially if its a guy. Male ego is nothing to take lightly. Sometimes people have so much going on and everyone telling them what to do that they feel the need to take it into their own hands.
