Eh sounds like the mom is just trying to cash in some more.

I mean, cmon.. really?

Quote:
Her mother, Lesli, said she knew her daughter wouldn’t come home alive that afternoon after she watched Nikki take the car keys and run out of the house.

“I tried to stop her, I couldn’t,” she said.

That is the sorriest excuse ever, especially after:

Quote:
“It could have been the beginning of schizophrenia. We were going to find out that day. The day of the accident, she had an appointment at 3 p.m. to see a neuropsychiatrist,” she said.

So she suspected her daughter had mental problems, but still let her run off to drive a car she probably couldn't handle.

Makes sense.

Unless her daughter held her mom at gunpoint or tied her down while she took the car, the mother has no one to blame but herself.

So cyber bullying was towards the family or was it the reason the girl took her dads porche?

The girl took the car because teenager.

The bullying occurred after pics of her decapitated body were posted all over the web.

The family sued and eventually won a $2.3 million settlement, but millions of people on the Internet had already viewed and commented on the pictures.
If its true that an leo took the pics in an official capacity and released them without proper authorization, then I'm glad they won the suit, and hopefully the individuals responsible were disciplined appropriately.

Quote:
In one anonymous post after another, Lesli said bloggers added insult to incredible loss.

The family was forced to read comments like, “It’s her own fault she’s dead”, “She got what she deserved” and “So a spoiled little (expletive) stole her daddy’s Porsche.”
I wonder if the police ever caught the people that held the family at gunpoint and forced them to read online comments.

to the author of that article. Makes it a little tough to take anything else in the article seriously.

And the article says the family won the lawsuit.

I guess the case was thrown out in 2008, court of appeals overturned in 2011, and CHP settled in 2012
