Looking for 99 323i Restoration advice
I have a 99 323i with 200,000 miles. Parked it 1 1/2 years ago. Code reader pulled bad sensors, misfire on 2 cylinders, , , automatic tranny slipping, needs brakes, suspension, front, rear bumpers.
I'm lookin to build it a little unique and a lot upgraded. Any pix ? Parts for sale? Good engine shops in eastern PA ? Rebuild auto or drop 5-speed in it? Brake kits? Suspension set up? Anything helps |

How can I put this politely? If you put in a supercharger, you'll get some speed, I guess, but based on your list, you have so many things to do first, I don't think you'll have much money for the upgrades you want...and low cost 'unique' often looks bad...nothing personal.
Rebuild the car to what it was new, then, if you don't like the ride, mess it up however you like! ![]() On the trans...do some searching...I don't think you need a new trans. Guys do swap manny trans' in, but there are a lot of other parts you'd need to get to make it work...there are threads here so you can see what all is required. Brakes--textar pads and blank rotors is OE Suspension--see Mango's suspension thread...and his, 'so you just got a bmw' thread. You didn't mention the cooling system work you'll be wanting to do some of...pulleys, belts, intake boots... If you use title search for thread titles...look up your codes...sensors like cps can cause misfires afaik, but at your mileage, without any report of what you know has been done before, it could be a number of things...but hope the sensors fix it for you--use OE sensors as others don't play nice with our car. Oh, btw, although I sound like an idiot, and probably am one in many ways, don't mean to sound that way...I'm just old. Now, onto the show about how you can get that unique, upgraded ride you want. But don't forget that I was the one to suggest rebuilding to factory...OE parts...and you'll get a great ride, a lot sooner, for much less money...much less. I'm presuming you're not a baller since you got a bmw with 200K miles on it...but maybe you are...in which case...nevermind!
