installed my v3 and worth every penny and more. it seriously does everything you can ask for from a audio system. at $600 i believe it's a steal. It looks great, stock looking so no one tried to break in your car, and even plays anything on my iphone wirelessly through bluetooth. just an fyi, you definitely need to install those filters it comes with to the speaker leads which makes it harder to fit the wires to the side of the unit but not impossible.

OE aftermarket

Dynavin units are one of the better units out there. They mostly make unit for European cars and my cousin have the v3 in his E46 and no real complaint beside the glare. He give it 7 out of 10 but for the price and all the functions, its the best money he ever spent on his ride

Strange that that thought crossed my mind the other day. With the increasing popularity of the Dynavin it's just a matter of time and thieves will "recognize" and start breaking into our ride and stealing our units. Wish the Dynavin had a removable face plate

nah....I live in the car theft capitol of the country...they arent looking in bmws for things like dynavins, they want name brand single din cd players that they can sell for $50 on the street, the dynavin is WAY to specific, not to mention I know it seems like they are popular but there are only a few thousand IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. Dont worry about it.

To the original poster, you will need to manage your expectations. This is not the best head unit in the world. This is an extremely good head unit for $600... for an E46 owner that wants an OEM looking receiver. There are better navigation head units out there, but they cost more money and the install is more complex.

Out of the box, the Dynavin is very easy to install into an E46 without OEM navigation. If you've installed a car stereo before, this will take you a maximum of a few hours. If you go very slowly and carefully, it may take you a whole afternoon, but the install is "plug-n-play" since the Dynavin harness plugs directly into the OEM BMW radio harness.

If you have OEM navigation, aftermarket amplifiers and/or speakers, you will have a little more work to do.

If you already have aftermarket equipment, you're probably treading the line of whether this receiver is good enough for you. I say that because if you have a/d/s or cdt speakers being powered by an aftermarket amplifier, you're probably picky... and if you're picky, you'll have to make your own judgement on whether this head unit is good enough for you.

I don't think that car thieves would bother stealing such a niche market device. Why would you break into a BMW to steal a cheap head-unit that will only work in other BMWs? The Dynavin has no manufacturer markings on it and many E46s come with OEM navigation screens, which are in the same place.

I'm no expert, but if I were a car thief, I would focus on stealing things that were more marketable. Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine -- those'll fit in almost any car. That's why iPods, Garmins, and TomToms are the most commonly stolen things from cars. They're easy to sell.

Plus, what kind of BMW owner would buy a used Dynavin off a shady car thief? I don't know about anyone else here, but I wouldn't buy a used Dynavin from someone shady if they didn't have the original box and accessories.

This is probably contrary to popular belief, but I just think that detachable face plates make it much more obvious that you're trying to hide something of value. Let's pretend that I'm looking to steal your head unit. If I looked into a car and saw that the head unit's faceplate was missing, I'd immediately know that the car's owner thought the head unit was valuable... and since the Dynavin has that nice 7" touchscreen with that extra-wide OEM BMW form factor, I know that you didn't put it on your pocket (unless you're carrying a man-purse), so that probably means it's either locked in your glovebox or locked in your trunk.

My Ride: shines like justice
Im happy with the unit, fantastic upgrade. My total costs were pretty low after I sold my factory HU, my Dice kit, and my Garmin, and if I ever sell my car I can list it as having nav and bluetooth built in.

As far as functionality, I give it an 8 out of 10. Everything works fine in my unit, no bugs. Only refinements I wish mine had were modifiable menus in radio/usb/ipod mode, I wish it wouldnt pause the radio/ipod when I reverse (but I love my reverse camera), the glare. But these are small issues compared to updated looks, the tons of new features, and the potential to expand the platform.

With a $10 or $20 program I now have full access to WindowsCE so I can install and run anything I choose. Its amazing having a full OS in your dash.

I also can install multiple GPS programs and update whenever I choose at no cost.

Compared to my other option of spending over $1000 for oem nav that I have to purchase DVDs to upgrade, with no touch screen and limited features...this is just a hands down no brainer.

Completely satisfied with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking to increase their cars features/performance/value

Edit: Im also going to start looking into installing software to monitor the OBD or something like Carsoft.

Dynavin Android

I hate my Dynavin. It was corrupt straight out of the box and although my provider Incarmedia melbourne said he'd fix it he claimed to have run tests on it with the same problem. So hesitant to fulfill my warranty he declined that it was further damaged and could not connect or run at capacity. When I filmed the issues he said send it back. Than the bastard told me he tested it ripped the tear shreds and sent it back without the cords telling me I opened box therefore voided warranty. Next thing I find out he sold the business and the new owners basically tell me to get stuffed and that it was his problem. Now I'm left with a hole in my dash, Dynavin in Hong Kong wont return my emails and no ones seems to supply these cords separately so I cannot have it tested or repaired and then sell the hunk of ****.

Im going on 2 years with mine and it works excellent.. I lost the volume in my navi, I might have accidentally muted it. I hardly use that function anyway. Everything else is still working perfectly though

I love my D95 Dynavin Android unit. I rarely use the radio side ever, mostly I use my phones wifi tethering so I can use the Pandora APP for android. I have even had netflix playing through my dynavin for my wife on long road trips. There is no reason to get a professional install on a dynavin. There are only a few screws to worry about, no splicing or cutting. The whole thing is plug and play. I have never done a car audio install and the Dynavin was so easy.

Interesting how opinion can vary so much when the product is the same.....I think it has everything to do with your dealer's willingness to help, and and your ability (and your willingness) to make sure you have everything set up right.
