I'd agree with that. I still think they were badly acted / directed / scripted, but you can't fault the imagination behind it and who it influenced. They sure seemed awesome when I was 7-10.

So they were very imaginative films that influenced generations and changed the way the public/filmmakers viewed movies--both figuratively and literally.

Sounds like we're talking about a "classic" to me Not all so called classics have an identical impact, just as they don't have to make an impact in the same way.

you sound like you were that high school kid with low self esteem that made fun of everyone to feel better about himself..

so, i really want to hear what you consider a truly great film during the era of star wars/jones. i dont care what anyone says, the production value, composition, and even the action of those films were far ahead any movie in THAT TIME. seriously, youre using todays movie grading rubric on 70's films lol get a grip.

I knew I'd hit a nerve with some uber geeks. It took long enough. Relax man, I'm not insulting your childhood or anything. It's a movie, nothing more. Ghorn isn't taking this seriously, and neither am I.

In any thread that goes on long enough, someone's going to come late to an argument and escalate the butthurt quotient to some new, unheard-of level.

To be fair, I started it. But I was just playing around. It appears I come across VERY serious on the interwebz. IRL, I'm the silliest person you may ever meet, but that doesn't come across online.
