I'll give you a hint, I had to make a 30 point turn and it smells like burning transmision fluid. Definetely getting an arm workout...

Ditching a failing German for a temperamental Italian.

Buys guns instead of maintenance for the DD.

That is a set of confident decisions.

Apperently I left a pool of power steering/tranny fluid at the house. Any way to tell if it's the pump vs rack vs hose?

No noises or anything. I was just driving on the freeway and noticed the steering was a lot heavier than normal

By looking to see where the fluid leak is? It should be pretty obvious. It's probably one of the crimped rubber->metal connections that are failing. On the E36s you can cut the crimp off and use a new hose/hose clamp setup, but I think the E46 has those fancy quick disconnects....not sure if those will work the same way.

I have the dust cover on the bottom of the car. Need to jack it up in the air to get it off. Won't get it off until tomorrow

I would highly recommend that, but I have to say, he desperately needs to clean his engine bay first before he makes any attempts to trace the leak.

why do teeny boppers on the internet think it's just a dust cover

it prevents float at high speed and ensures proper air flow over the radiator

Taste it
If it's sweet ... or is that the radiator fluid?
