WTB or swap exterior window trims
Hey guys a mate of mine has a black 328 coupe and wants to change the chrome trims around his windows to black. Is there somewhere he could buy these or if anyone would like to swap let me know. Thanks

goodluck with that, everyones after black, dont even bother getting a quote for parts from bmw, ur jaw will drop.
paint peels off them, wrapping is the only solution, although some like it some don't. up to you.

http://www.bmwshadowline.com/ I bought a roll off them from ebay. not too expensive. Turns out well if you have patience. I attempted it on my old car ( without taking the trim off) and i got 1 side decent, but other side was terrible cause i ran out of patience lol.... took me around 5 hours.

Ah that sucks. Didn't realize how hard these were to get a hold of. Just out of interest, how much did BMW quote? Love a good laugh.
Powder coating might be the way he goes in the end depending on cost and effectiveness. Thanks |

Unfortunately, not many black trims floating around. I have the original chrome trim sitting in my garage if your mate wants to get his mitts on that and have a go at spray painting them.

You will be looking at $150 each side for them. Part numbers are 7003935 for the left and 7003936 for the right. Dealer price is roughly $250 each side.
Edit: Selien your part numbers are 7894359 for the left and 7894360 for the right can find out correct prices for them if interested will probably be around half the cost of the coupe ones.

Spray painting the chrome can work, but it all down to being patient & doing it right.
1. Rough up the surface with some sandpaper, don't go too coarse though, 240 grade would be the coarsest to use. Having them sandblasted would be the best option. 2. Prepsol the trim thoroughly. 3. Etch prime, if you don't the paint will come off for sure. 4. Use your top cost of black.
