FS - BNOB Mechman HO Alternator - 300a+ - $575
Hello, all. I have a brand new Mechman alternator for sale. If you are looking to run some serious electronics this is what you need. I purchased it with intent of supporting a very large amplifier but have switched my goals, thus have no need for it any longer.
Since Mechman doesn't usually support BMW applications, I had it custom made to fit my '05 330i. Luckily Eric @ Mechman happened to have his E46 for test fitting. It should bolt on to anything with an M54 in it, more than likely any I6 E46's.. The unit was sold to me as a 270a, but "benched over 300a". Maximum output is achieved before 1800rpm. It's idle output is over 165a. Awesome unit! 14v, of course. I have email traffic from Mechman for the whole process. They have a very solid reputation for high quality stuff. I also have instructions from the company on how to install it included. 0ga ofc wire can also be negotiated if needed. Feel free to inquire with anything. $575 shipped. |

May I ask what exactly of your FI system inhibits your alternator installation? I am honestly not sure if the case size is any larger than the oem.. research time!

It seems like it alter the position of the Pulley. On my FI unit there is a hole in the bracket for the pulley to be in its OEM position. With this alternator and its custom mount bracket. The pulley might not be in the same position and will cause issues...

This unit alters nothing to my knowledge. There is no custom bracket to mount it. It is a direct replacement for the oem unit from what I have been told. The only thing I do not know is if the case is larger. However, I doubt a slightly larger case would prevent this from fitting..

Thanks for responding so quick! I'm interested but at the moment i'm trying to get my car back on the road so i purchased the voltage regulator, for now... I might get back to you if I absolutely can't find any other alternatives. Thanks bud and good luck on your endeavors.
