Meyle strut mounts sqeaking BAD in cold...
I installed new shocks/struts along with new mounts this summer and used the Meyle ones. My front strut mounts are being extremely noisy in the cold. They squeak badly. It sounds like a rubber squeaking sound. Its driving me insane! Any ideas??

Completly unrelated vehicle but my old saab used to do that and it was the control arm bushings... might check those?

I have a similar problem. Did you ever find the problem/solution? Some are recommending lube of the strut bearing.

The same with me.
I put new Bilstein HD shocks and struts and ordered Meyle HD as I had heard them to be the most durable mounts. For the first week or so they didn't make any noise. Then they started to squeak more and more. I took it to the guy that installed them, put some grease and stayed quiet for another two weeks but today they started making the same noise again. It seems to be worse when it's cold. Here's a guy with the same problem: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...php?p=25581356 I wonder if we should make a claim to either our own distributor or Meyle itself as this seems to have become a common problem in the last months. Maybe a bad batch?? |

I would not have commented the way I did if mine were not Meyle. Yes they are Meyle. I installed them in 2010 and they have 30,000 miles on them.

I've been out of town. my 20 YO has the mission to by lithium grease today so we can see if that works. I do suspect the Meyles (well, just one as of now). Not sure where to start with asking for a refund, etc. And hate the thought of removing/replacing the struts--what a pain. Hats off to echo46 in the bimmerforum post. He must have it down to a science!
