Anyone have experience or know if the vanos is covered under warranty? As I saw it mentioned in one of the documents.

We get the same VANOS as the M54s, just with different programming. I'm honestly not sure if its covered or not. I never thought about that one.

Anyone have a contact number for someone at bmwna? Who deals with the m56 and warranty issues? It seems like the VANOS is too broadly vague in the documentation but it does mention it. Want to confirm these things before I even go to the dealer, who have no idea.

They even mentioned new pistons that add to the emissions efficiency so technically that seems like it should be covered also.

I'll check againI know the actual engine pistons are different - they have a different design on the combustion face. |

BMWNA is pretty useless also i keep getting the same women telling me to go to the dealer haha. I saw someone get their camshaft sensor replaced.
In documentation it mentions, "free from defects in materials and workmanship which cause any part that can affect emissions to fail to conform with applicable requirements or to fail a camlifornia smog check test or EPA approved short test for a period of 3 years or 50,000 miles or 15 years or 150,000 miles for the SULEV" It seems from that statement that if any failed component is causing you to fail your emissions inspection it has to be replaced and is covered under 150K. Such as MAF sensors, Oxygen sensors, im going as far as if you have a cracked cylinder causing your car to fail emissions by leaking oil ect. it would be covered. This is what I am getting reading this will try to keep contacting dealers and BMWNA and hopeflly get an answer. I know someone replaced their camshaft sensor under warranty anybody else replace something other than the fuel tank/pump or things mentioned on the emissions list? |

For what it's worth in California a check engine light automatically fails a smog test. So basically anything that causes a CEL should be covered.

I figured I'm going to use the simple and dumb way of dealing with this. It seems every time you try to talk to people normally they fail to help or comprehend. Will take it to DMV inspection get the failed inspection smog test, take it to the dealer and point at the paragraph. Instead of trying to convince them camshaft sensor/vanos/maf sensor affects emissions. Let them figure everything out.

so a year ago i had my secondary air pump replaced..now the check engine light is on again with the same p1411 code
the pump still runs if I reset the code so I'm guessing it's either the valve or on of the tubes are leaking..

I read somewhere that the m56 has the 330 air intake system. is this true? I've been looking for a CAI and I dont want to order the wrong one.
Also, has anyone done a muffler delete for the m56? comparisons to a regular 325i? |

That's what I remember reading also. On another topic I noticed that our rear bumpers are different also or maybe just mine? mine has the bottom part cut out kinda like the zhp one. Anyone Know anything about this? I'm asking because I was interested in a carbon fiber diffuser later on and it seemed like it might fit.
