I've gotta call my 97yr old grandpa.....he is a retired Captain from the Navy and was aboard a destroyer that was at Omaha Beach during Normandy, among a variety of other operations.

Thanks for all who served and who is currently serving.

+1 Thanks to all who take enough pride in their country to serve and do it humbly.

Most notably in OT: Swish, M3 Power and Nova. I'm sure there are others I'm not thinking of off the top of my head so just insert your name between the commas.

Happy Veterans Day :)

Just wanted to give this thread a bump since, it seems, the rest of main stream America and the media has forgetting about this special day to honor veterans.

I'll be visiting my grandpa's grave site at the local national cemetery this weekend.

Agreed. Thanks to all those who have served and who are actively serving. The US would not be the country it is without the sacrifices made on behalf of our servicemen and servicewomen.

How long go did he pass away? Sounds like a great man to have as a grandfather.

January of this year. It was time as he was damn near 100 years old and his health had declined quickly. He was an engineer for McDonnell Douglas/Boeing for 30+ years after he retired from the Navy and the main reason why I'm a car enthusiast. He collected Mustangs (old ones) and Alfa Romeo's (mainly Spiders & Milano's).
