I was grinding the beans from Kirkland Brand Roasted by Starbucks...Not too bad..... Bought Eight O'clock from BJs and it is fantastic. Tim Horton makes some good beans as well. I am not a big fan of Dunkin

Starbucks whole bean is pretty good- way better than you'd expect.
A really great coffee shop near my house uses only Lavazza. Kicking Horse Kick Ass Coffee is amazing if you want strong coffee. I mean I've never had better. Trader Joes has some great whole bean coffee for decent prices too. Last edited by Grande D; 11-11-2012 at 03:43 PM. |

If it's whole bean it doesn't matter as much. Do you have a good grinder?

Don't buy a 5lb bag, it won't be fresh by the time you finish it.

Try Trader Joes coffee, my gfs uncle sells to them. I don't drink coffee but everyone who has drank his coffee is always amazed at how good it is. Try the Brazilian roast and Colombian they sell.

lol terrible advice ITT
Most of the junk that's out there is roasted in huge batches and can sit for months before hit hits store shelves / or people buy it and use it. Coffee is good for ~1 week after it has been roasted.

They sell 12.3 ounce tins too. I do the same thing. I buy the big bag and kept the tin from the first time I bought the coffee.

What I heard is that a week or less after you grind the coffee it's past its prime. And it doesn't go "bad" the flavor just isn't as good. |

You should only grind coffee immediately before you use it. It should be stored (whole bean) at room temperature for a week, 2 weeks MAX before it's lost most of its flavor and isn't worth drinking anymore.

Coffee tastes good in my opinion for at least a month after I buy it if I keep the whole beans in my freezer. |

Storing whole beans in the freezer is not a good idea. You are better off keeping them at room temperature in an air-tight container. read this: http://www.coffeeam.com/coffee-storage.html I should have mentioned that keeping it in an air-tight container for a long period of time is also not good. I open up my container 1-2x per day so the gasses never get a chance to built up.
