My Ride: 2002 bmw 330ci
cold start problem

hi i have a 2002 bmw 330ci every time in the morning when i first start my car there is a settings light that turns on next to where it says if your in park or drive then when i try to put it in gear the service engine light comes on when it gets to normal temp i turn it off and back on the setting light goes away but the service light stays on intel later on in the day then that turns off can any one tell me what the problem is and how it can be fixed

Firstly, the full stop key is in the bottom right of the keyboard, usually the second key to the left of the right shift key.

What does the "settings" light look like? Take a photo or find a dash picture.

Get the codes read.

Suggest you read the first link below in my signature regarding the CEL light.

Likely the SAP vacuum hose that runs around the valve cover?

But you likely have many other rotted vacuum hoses as well given the age of the car.
