Anxiety in the middle of the night?
I've been dealing with it for the last 4 year's and for the most part I have it under control but at night's I would get it. It's been awhile since my last epsoide but pass 2 nights i'll get it when I go to sleep and wake up after some hours of sleeping....I take melatonin and half a pill of unisome before sleep mostly and it works but I'm getting feed up by it and how the feeling is and at times it ruining the lack of sleep I get and becoming tired the next day....what are some tips I can do? I know many suffer from some sort of strees and Anxiety but I'm done just throwing it on the back bunker, i really want to take control of it and become stronger and killing the feeling when it comes on.
Thanks

Learn to meditate. You can do it during the day to release pent up stress and to go through any thoughts that may be lingering in the back of your mind (that subconsciously cause anxiety). If you do not process your thoughts or suppressed feelings they will find a way to come out.

So you would meditate during the day when there is no issue?? I don't even know what brings on my anxiety anymore, its more or less a feeling and when I get up and move I'm good but the minute I lay my head down that rush comes to my head...I always hear my close friends telling me its in my head and I need to make it go away but so far I've been dealing with it but now I want to over come it.

talk to a counselor, therapist, psychologist? Talk therapy rather than chemical solutions.

Do you exercise regularly? That may help.
My ex had night terrors. Used to scare the sh!t outta me She'd have full on hallucinations--well, I guess it's more like sleep walking, without the walking.

was it sleep paralysis? i know someone with that and she described it too me and it was scary to think about. she would wake up, but her body was still asleep, so she couldn't do anything. it was like she was paralyzed and would just freak out lying there helpless.

I've always found that if I start getting anxiety or can't sleep, exercise is the best way to take your mind off of things in general and it will tire you out physically so you can actually sleep better at night. Do you do much cardio exercise, like biking, jogging, swimming?

Do you go to bed the same time every night? What is your evening like, when do you start "winding down"? Do you drink caffeine; how much? When is your last caffeinated drink?
Do you have a television in your room? Do you watch television in bed, use your laptop/smartphone in bed? When people start to develop problems sleeping, they are generally asked some of these questions. Being exposed to bright lights in your bedroom can affect your circadian rhythm. Although it's not full spectrum lighting, it's still super bright light right in your face while you're trying to fall asleep. Whether you eat or watch TV in bed, you're basically just pairing stimuli to bedtime. Your bed should be used for sleeping, sex, and reading before bed. If you can't fall asleep after 20-30 minutes get out of bed. If you wake up feeling anxious, get out of bed. I would taper off the melatonin, your body produces that naturally and should be used when traveling to fight jet lag. You don't need it.
