final stage resistor
Hello, been reading about this infamous final stage resistor. whwere is it located, how much is it, and is it easy to remove and replace. Based on all the posts on it, i was thinking of replacing mine just as preventative measures. 1999 323i. 5 spd

search search and search. a member here has a video showing how to replace it. it's kinda hard and you need small hands. it's under your dash.
it's $40-$80 and you need to buy oem. which is behr i believe. someone found it on fcpgroton for about 40 bucks which is as cheap as you'll ever see.

If it's still working, I wouldn't replace it. If I remember correctly, mine was about $60 in 2009. That was my second. The first one was replaced under certified pre-owned warranty. Search for the DIY and you'll find answers to all of your questions. It's essentially behind the middle of the dash. You take the glove box out and access it from there. It's a bit of a struggle to reach in there, but I didn't find it difficult at all other than that.
