330ci Supercharger?

Hey Guys,

I've been looking at adding some more horsepower to my convertible.
This is what I've come to http://www.esstuning.com/products/M5...%28TS2%29.html

Most of my mates are saying that I'm better off just selling mine and getting an M3 but I like my 330ci!
Has anyone else here already supercharged theirs?

Apparently the ESS supercharger is good for 240rwkw on a healthy 330ci, which will beat a stock m3 (170-180rwkw)

I have not done it or seen it, but I've read it on here. Apparently its around 12k installed and tuned, but it will not help your resale much at all. The car will still be worth a lot less than a clean m3, not to mention illegal.

thats insane!!

That video is of a stage 3 kit though.
Mine's an auto, I'm thinking of starting with the stage 2 before I need to look at the transmission, etc.

Why is it illegal?

Pretty much anything here is illegal...

The cops will pull you up if they catch you, and then ask you to get it EPA tested and all sorts of rubbish. I don't think it will pass.

They'll find whatever way they can to make your life hell with a modified car though.

I think there is to still, Estoril blue 330ci with a complete custom set up and a bbk from stop tech as well. Wants 20k. Went to look at it before I got my M3. It's insane but poor condition and pretty sure it's been defected which is why he wants to sell but dunno

Obviously the easiest path is to upgrade your car.

But if you want to go S/C you CAN get it engineered. It all depends on your motor and its health. I S/C'd my car and it passed emissions first go. In fact on all of the 4 gasses they did the check on, it was well below the requirements

The rest of the components meet AUS standards. Well for the M3 Kit it does anyway. You'll have to check with your car bud.

Good luck.

If I can keep up fine with an M3, a 330 should be a fair bit quicker then one

I was in the same boat, sell the 325 for an m3 or keep it because I love it. I kept it.

Considering the prices of M3s now if you havent done much to your 330 you may want to look at trading up.

But if you do SC and your engine is in good condition you wont regret it. E46 M3 is no problem, at least on a straight

My opinion, if your 330 is relatively stock, get an M3.

But....if you're attached to the 330 and want to keep it I highly recommend sc it. The difference is night and day.

Dont have experience with AA SC kits, but for the ESS stage 2 it goes very well. Grunt everywhere in the rev range. Yes it will pull on a stock M3.

Hope this helps.

+1 on keep it if you're attached, ditch it if you aren't

From my experience the AA kit sounds very similar to the ESS in terms of how it pulls at various revs. The physical sound is much different though, as well as the aesthetic between the two.

I vote for trading to an M3 also as they hold their value extremely well, and that little M badge gains a lot of respect!

When it comes time to sell your 330 with a S/C you may have a hard time, as generally speaking no-one likes purchasing a modified and possibly 'flogged' or problematic car...

Get a car that was designed from the factory to cope with more than 200kw, rather than attempting a costly mod that will only necessitate further expensive mods (BBK, better clutch/fly, etc). Sell your 330 for $22k, buy an M3 for $33k and spend any money left over on preventative maintenance and a good detail.
just my opinion..
