Arrow On the market for a Macbook Air

Whats up guys
Im on the market for a Macbook Air as a gift this holiday season. I've never really purchased any Apple products besides a few ipods. I figured I'd get some advice on here prior to my purchase.

Is there a site/store that sells them a bit cheaper than the Apple website?

Will they have Black Friday deals on Macbook Air at the end of the month?

Thanks in advance

The Apple Store sells refurbished ones if you want to go that route. If not try to find someone who goes to college still to get a slight discount.

Sounds like a great idea. Do you know how much of a discount they give to college students?

Thanks for the tip

Depending on what you want to do on your computer... I would go with the MacBook Pro 13in. It's only a few hundred bucks more. And weighs about 1lb more. There are several places where you can get them cheaper.. Again depending what you are looking for. Go to the Apple store online, click on the Education store for pricing. Check the refurb. I've purchased several refurb Macs and used the Education discount. Both are great

The new Air (2011-2012_ are very capable machines. Sure, a pro might be better if you need to do #d or video, but if basic stuff is all you need, the Air will be fine.

+1 on the refurbished models from Apple.
They are as good as new when you buy them and they come with the same 1 year warranty as new.

The cheapest way to buy a Macbook Air is through Amazon.com using amazon/gift card points towards the balance plus having it ship to Jersey so you could avoid sales tax.

The Air is best Ultrabook on the market on balance.

The 13" Retina MBP is not a machine you should buy this generation.

I have a Pro and would much rather have an Air. The current generation Pro has basically the same processor and has the same integrated graphics as the Air, if you're talking 13" for 13".

The Student discount increases as the computer gets more expensive. I believe on black friday they roughly match student pricing. I bet you someone would sell or give you their college student discount if you know them well. IIRC You can only buy one computer a year with the education discount, make sure they're aware of that.
