Modded vs exotic

Interesting that everyone is talking about supercars and spending $150K on them. In Australia a stock M3 from factory is around $180K delivered, supercars are $450K+.

How so? It's fairly well known that people outside of the U.S. (..not necessarily just Australia) pay far more for most cars than we do here.

It's really just the fact that your minimum wage is over $15/hr. This drives the cost of everything up. Even though your AU dollar is worth slightly more than a US dollar, Australians have more money, so their cost of living goes up. It's that "invisible hand" of the supply and demand interaction at work here. It's also another reason why raising the minimum wage doesn't really help anybody in the long run, but that's political and not for here.

You're right. It definitely has nothing to do with the enormous import taxes or the fact that everything has to be shipped to a remote island. It's definitely the burger flippers.

Honestly, I know to each their own... but for those that rather have a E46 M3 modded, etc. over an exotic car are funny. You say you want to have the rarity and unique touch to the car you build but at the end of the day production cars like that are a dime a dozen. Go to a car meet, there are modded cars like yours everywhere!

But when you drive an exotic car, e.g. 458 Italia, F430, Gallardo, Aventador, GT3, Aston Martin, Massarti, Bently, Rolce Royce, Audi R8, Ford GT, SLS... there are a lot of engineering that goes into them. Yes, anyone can get them but they are MUCH more rare/unique then your modded E46 M3. That is a fact. Plus for those people that give crap for driving that car for status and attention, well yes, thats what they are for. lol. To some people that is important to be able to remind themselves they "made it" and are "successful"... and thats not shallow or anything.

Like I said before, I take an exotic car that has ridiculous amount of engineering/time put into it to make sure the car is perfectly made for what it is. I think a lot of people here are underestimating the amount of testing and engineering that go into these exotic cars!

Nothing says "class" like sticking led angel eyes and a m3 badge on a Lamborghini.

I really want a stage 3/4 HPF M3..drools.

As far as exotics go, I really would enjoy owning a Ferrari 599 GTO. I've seen that car go around the track so fast the big brakes glow red. It's like they're holding on for the dear life, lol.

You really consider a GT3 to be an exotic?

i dont consider gallardo to be special car

A modded car will drive like **** for the most part.. It will feel like your in a race car and the ride comfort will be non existent. Also I see guys having issues with them all the time.

I would start at a good base for modding, an e46 m3 and put an HPF kit on it, bump it up to 700hp and kick some ass!

Half the joy of owning a car is making it my own. I would like an exotic but I think taking an e92 and making it my own would be much more satisfying to own.

We've all got our opinions. Unless it's 50-60 years old, the "making it my own" idea doesn't do much for me.

I would consider tint/wheels/lowering/exhaust on just about any car, but that's it. And I barely consider that modding.

ya thats amazing, but i can get 1300hp and under 2second to 62mph on every soft launch an M3 has its limits of physics.
